<div>Frank Gore, TY Hilton's Updated 2015 Fantasy Outlook After Andrew Luck's Injury</div>

The Indianapolis Colts won both their games without starting quarterback Andrew Luck earlier this season but are now expected to lose him again for an extended period of time.

Luck will be out for two to six weeks because of a partial abdominal muscle tear and a lacerated kidney suffered in the fourth quarter of Week 9’s huge 27-24 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, per Colts.com’s Kevin Bowen and an official team statement.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano also spoke on the matter, per the team’s release:

It’s way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out. We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We’ve got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we’re not going to put Andrew back out there until he’s healed and ready to go.

Tons of questions loom about Indy’s offense as Matthew Hasselbeck prepares to take over under center. From a fantasy perspective, starting running back Frank Gore and explosive wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is worth analyzing in greater depth.

In light of the unique circumstances of Luck being out, let’s look at how Gore and Hilton fared in Weeks 4 and 5, respectively:

Despite a quick turnaround for two consecutive games in the AFC South, it’s encouraging to see Gore and Hilton improved on their debuts with the 40-year-old Hasselbeck at QB.

Gore is an anomaly and a paragon of durability at his contact-heavy position, registering 22 touches in each of his two starts alongside Hasselbeck. To take on the heavy workload he did in Week 5 against the Houston Texans with the mileage he has on his legs is nothing short of phenomenal.

It would stand to reason the Colts will lean more on the rushing attack with Luck out of the lineup, but then again, Indianapolis wasn’t afraid to air it out in Hasselbeck’s prior starts. The veteran averaged 38 pass attempts per game and didn’t throw an interception.

The fantasy forecast looks promising for Gore, who has a little more competition from Ahmad Bradshaw but should still be able to produce as an RB2.

Those who plan to deploy Hilton in fantasy should be excited at his prospects. Although Hasselbeck doesn’t have as much arm strength as Luck to capitalize on the wideout’s long speed, the Colts will likely execute their short-range passing game better thanks to Hasselbeck’s long-spanning tutelage in the West Coast offense.

Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star applauded new Colts offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski for letting Hilton do work in the open field on underneath routes:

Known for integrating tight ends into the game plan and taking vertical shots, Chudzinski may have to adjust slightly with Indianapolis under Hasselbeck’s direction. With how quickly Hilton can gain separation, though, he doesn’t need to be too far down the field on a double move for Hasselbeck to lay it in for him.

Since Hilton was Hasselbeck’s top target in both of his prior starts, there’s no reason the former can’t continue on as a fringe WR1 or strong WR2. Plus, bear in mind Hilton still had 88 yards in Andre Johnson‘s best outing of the year that featured two touchdown receptions at Houston.

The schedule is also favorable for Indianapolis in the coming weeks. The team travels to Atlanta to play the Falcons in Week 11, hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, plays at the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars thereafter and faces the Texans again at Lucas Oil Stadium to cap off that stretch.

Best of all under these adverse circumstances is the fact the Colts are on a bye for Week 10. It provides plenty of time for Hasselbeck and Chudzinski to get on the same page, find common ground on play designs and draw up the best possible plan for attack against a Falcons secondary ranked 19th in pass defense.

Joseph Randle Suspended Four Games

NFL News
November 10, 2015

Former Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has been suspended without pay for four games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (via Twitter). Randle has been a free agent since being cut by Dallas, and this news won’t help him as he attempts to find a new job.

Randle’s four-game ban presumably stems from a February incident in Wichita, Kansas, which saw him arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police received a call for an alleged domestic incident involving Randle and the mother of his son. Charges against the 23-year-old were dropped in April, but the NFL continued its own investigation, reportedly meeting with Randle over the summer, and again in October.

Randle, 24 in December, was expected by many to emerge as the leader in the Cowboys’ fractured backfield this season, following the offseason departure of DeMarco Murray. However, with Randle suffering from an injured oblique and dealing with off-field issues, he lost his starting job and eventually his spot on the Cowboys’ roster, having rushed for just 313 yards on 76 attempts in the first half.

Based on a tweet from Ed Werder of ESPN.com this morning, it sounds as if there were teams with interest in Randle, but those clubs were waiting to hear on his potential suspension. Rapoport (Twitter link) had reported a couple weeks back that the running back would likely face a one- or two-game suspension, so potential suitors may be put off by the longer ban.

Andrew Luck Out Two To Six Weeks

NFL News
November 10, 2015

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will be sidelined for the next two to six weeks due to a lacerated kidney and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle, the team announced today. With Indianapolis heading into its bye week, Luck may not miss many games, but it’s still a significant blow for a club clinging to a half-game lead in the AFC South.

“It’s way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out,” Chuck Pagano said in a statement. “We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We’ve got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we’re not going to put Andrew back out there until he’s healed and ready to go.”

It’s been a rough season so far for Luck, who was sidelined a shoulder injury earlier in the year and reportedly played with broken ribs in recent weeks. The former first overall pick has only won two of his seven starts, having completed just 55.3% of his passes, with 12 interceptions and a career-low 6.4 yards per attempt.

Sunday’s performance against the Broncos was a high point so far in 2015 for both the Colts and Luck, but that victory came at a price. According to Pagano, Luck sustained his injuries early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, meaning he was able to play through them in order to finish the game.

With Luck sidelined, and expected to recover without requiring surgery, Indianapolis will once again turn to Hasselbeck, who won both of his starts when he filled in for Luck in Weeks 4 and 5. If Luck is unable to return for six weeks, his 40-year-old backup would face the Falcons in Week 11, followed by the Buccaneers, Steelers, Jaguars, and Texans.

North Notes: Joe Thomas, Bengals, Peterson

NFL News
November 10, 2015

We’re a full week removed from the trade deadline, but whispers about the blockbuster deal that didn’t get done on that day – Joe Thomas to the Broncos – continue to linger. For his part, Thomas today denied a weekend report suggesting he and/or his agent asked the Browns to explore the trade market for a possible deal.

“I’m not sure where that report came from, but I can say in no uncertain terms that I never asked the Browns for a trade, that I never talked to them about wanting to be traded, (nor) did any of my representatives talk to the Browns about wanting to be traded,” Thomas said today, per Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com. “From what I understand about how things went, the Browns were contacted by the Broncos and that’s where the trade came from.”

That weekend report also indicated that Thomas wanted the Broncos to guarantee his 2016 and 2017 salaries before agreeing to a deal, which the Browns star tackle also denied.

“The other thing I’m going to be very firm and make no qualms about is myself was never involved in any contract discussions with the Denver Broncos, my agent was never involved in any contract discussions, there was never any guaranteed money discussed,” Thomas said. “I was off the grid this weekend, so I was a little surprised to see (the report).”

Let’s round up a few more Tuesday notes from across the NFL’s North divisions….

  • The Browns will add running back Glenn Winston and cornerback Charles Gaines to their active roster at some point this week, according to head coach Mike Pettine (Twitter link via Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal). Having cut linebacker Jayson DiManche and defensive back De’Ante Saunders yesterday, Cleveland shouldn’t need to make any other roster moves to accommodate the returning players.
  • A pair of Bengals players that opened the year on reserve lists returned to practice for the team today, according to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com. As Harvey notes, Cincinnati will now have a three-week window to decide whether or not to activate offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (non-football injury list) and linebacker Sean Porter (physically unable to perform list).
  • As Joel Corry of CBSSports.com observes (via Twitter), Adrian Peterson needs at least 1,350 rushing yards and a Vikings playoff berth to keep his 2016 roster bonus from dropping by $2MM. While those may have seemed like tall orders before the season, Peterson – the league’s leading rusher – is currently on pace to exceed 1,500 yards, and Minnesota is tied for first place in the NFC North.
