Nerdy Football Analysis: Tannehill is expected to have surgery on his ACL very soon which should allow him enough recovery time to be ready for the 2018 season. Jay Cutler takes over with a clear path to being the starter the entire season. His fantasy value is similar to Tannehill’s as a low-end QB2.

Nerdy Football Analysis: Ryan Tannehill will almost certainly miss half the season – if not all of it – after reinjuring his knee last Thursday. Cutler reunites with HC Adam Gase, who guided the quarterback to his most efficient season while both were with the Chicago Bears in 2015. It’s good news for the fantasy fortunes of DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills as well, as Cutler has a strong arm. Cutler figures to be little more than an uninspiring QB2 in fantasy this season, however.

Nerdy Football Analysis: In other words, Tannehill is not out of the woods yet, although “no structural damage” is almost always a good thing. Matt Moore showed late last season he can capably run the team if necessary and would start if Tannehill is forced to miss regular-season action.
