Joe Haden lands with the Steelers

Fantasy Football, NFL News
August 31, 2017

$5.75M signing bonus; $1.25M base salary

Joe Haden got a $5.75M signing bonus and a $1.25M 2017 base salary in his deal with the Steelers. He gets a $1M roster bonus in March 2018, a $9M salary in 2018 and a $10M salary in 2019. So three years, $27 million, but only the $5.75M signing bonus is guaranteed. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Haden has been hampered by injuries the last two years, but he is a cornerback who gives the Steelers a press-man corner – a big deal considering Pittsburgh is convinced it needs to do that in order to beat the New England Patriots. If Haden can stay healthy this year, the Steelers may have just taken another step toward doing just that.

Steelers activate Sammie Coates from the PUP list

InjuryReturning from knee surgery

The Steelers activated receiver Sammie Coates from the physically unable to perform list, and he will participate in his first practice of training camp this afternoon at Saint Vincent College. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Sammie Coates will join the battle for Pittsburgh’s fourth receiver spot behind Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant and Eli Rogers. Coates could become valuable depth for the Steelers or another team if he is eventually cut. Needless to say, he has a long road to go before gaining fantasy relevance in 2017.
