Torn Achilles in October

Arian Foster has been told the Houston Texans are releasing him, a source close to Foster told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Foster has spent seven seasons in Houston, rushing for 6,472 yards and 54 touchdowns, both franchise career highs. The 29-year-old Foster was due a $6.5 million base salary with a salary-cap number of almost $9 million for the 2016 season. By releasing him, the Texans would save around $6.6 million, according to ESPN Stats & Information. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: This move was expected. One of the best fantasy running backs when healthy, Foster only played in four games last season thanks to a groin injury in camp then a torn Achilles in October. Foster won’t have trouble finding a new team but it’s difficult to envision him being a true workhorse at this point in his career.
