Falcons will try to “push” Julio Jones on Friday

InjuryWR still not practicing

Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) sat out practice for a second consecutive day Thursday and is questionable to play against the 49ers on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Coach Dan Quinn said Jones participated in Thursday’s light walk-through session. The Falcons plan to have Jones “push it” Friday and will clear him to play when Jones is “able to explode pain-free,” Quinn said. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Nerdy Football Analysis: It sounds like he has a chance to play this week, but the Falcons will probably err on the side of caution if they have any doubts with the 49ers next up on the schedule. Jones will be an elite WR1 play if he goes, but Taylor Gabriel has been producing like a low-end WR1 for a while now and would be a solid start once again if Jones sits.
