InjuryWeek 1 star avoided concussion, dealing with thigh contusion

Carlos Hyde exited the game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third quarter and was cleared to return after testing negative for a possible concussion. Hyde returned to the 49ers’ sideline in the fourth quarter. He did not return to action.

“I got hit on the crown of my helmet, so I was dizzy when I got up. I felt better when I got to the sideline. The concussion test, I passed that and I was ready to go but they decided to pull me.” (CSN Bay Area)

Nerdy Football Analysis: While it’s good to know that Hyde avoided a head injury, he reportedly suffered a thigh bruise prior to departing and those injuries can be difficult for running back to shake off. The Niners stated that Hyde’s status – regarding his leg contusion – will be “closely monitored throughout the week”. Mike Davis did not fare well in relief of Hyde and San Francisco’s Week 2 loss and it may be too much to ask for either one to have a big game against Arizona in Week 3.
