Injury Ravens hit hard with pre-season injuries

From NFL Kickoff Early Edition: The #Ravens likely lost two more stars for the season, as RB Gus Edwards and CB Marcus Peters are feared to have torn their ACLs in practice today. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The hits just keep coming for the Ravens. After losing J.K. Dobbins (ACL) it appears another RB is out for the year. The team did sign Le’Veon Bell to the practice squad and it would seem likely that he will now be elevated for Monday night’s game against the Raiders. Ty’Son Williams becomes the defacto RB1. Expect Baltimore to be bringing in another free agent (Latavius Murray?) soon.

Curtis Samuel misses practice Thursday

Injury Groin injury

No surprise: Curtis Samuel a DNP again today. (John Keim on Twitter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Samuel was working with the trainer today a day after he looked less than enthused at practice. It’s safe to say that Samuel is trending in the wrong direction for being on the field in Week 1. He’s battled a groin injury the entire off-season. If he doesn’t play, it will mean more reps for Dyami Brown and Adam Humphries.

Injury Joey Slye to their practice squad

Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn will also not play in Week 1, David Culley said.

The Texans signed kicker Joey Slye to their practice squad yesterday. (Aaron Reiss on Twitter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Kickers. You probably weren’t targeting the Texans kicker for your Week 1 lineup but in case your stuck with Fairbairn on your roster, it’s safe to dump him for somebody else.

Saints release Latavius Murray

Injury Team asked RB to take a paycut, Murray refused

Saints are releasing RB Latavius Murray, per source. They asked for a pay reduction yesterday and he refused. Murray is coming off his best season, averaging 4.5 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per catch. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The Saints liked what the saw from Tony Jones during the preseason which made this move not so surprising. He becomes the No.2 RB behind Alvin Kamara. Murray will likely get some interest from RB needy teams (BAL?) although the Ravens did sign veteran Le’Veon Bell to their practice squad earlier today.

Tevin Coleman listed as RB1 on Jets depth chart

Veteran snags top role heading into Week 1

Tevin Coleman is listed as the RB1 on the Jets Week 1 depth chart.
(NewYorkJets.com)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Ty Johnson and rookie Michael Carter just didn’t have enough of a grasp of the offense heading into Week 1, leaving Coleman as the default RB1 headed into the matchup against Carolina. Coleman isn’t the sexiest option but he should be considered in some deeper fantasy formats against the Panthers.
