Justin Tuck May Be Out For Season

The Raiders fear that veteran defensive lineman Justin Tuck tore a pectoral muscle, a source tells Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). Tuck is currently undergoing tests, but he will miss several games and possibly the entire season.

Tuck signed a two-year, $11MM deal with the Raiders prior to the 2014 season. In his first season in silver and black, Tuck recorded 43 tackles and 5.0 sacks across 15 games (12 starts). This season, Tuck wasn’t putting up those same kinds of numbers, notching only seven tackles and one sack through five games. Still, as a starting defensive end, Tuck was being counted upon as a key piece of the team’s front seven.

Tuck racked up 11 sacks and forced a pair of fumbles in 2013, his final season with Big Blue. He also received an impressive grade as a run-stopper in that campaign, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), which placed him seventh among 52 qualified 4-3 defensive ends.
