RB will become a free agent on March 9th
The Minnesota Vikings will not pick up their option on Adrian Peterson’s contract for the 2017 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Peterson will become an unrestricted free agent on March 9. “Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings organization,” Spielman said in a statement. “We will continue to have conversations with his representatives and leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties moving forward.” (ESPN)
Nerdy Football Analysis: The Vikings weren’t going to Peterson his $18 million option for 2017. Its possible the two sides could work out an agreement before free agency begins on March 9th but more than likely Peterson will be in another uniform. Peterson played in only three games in 2016 averaging 1.9 yards per carry.
