Victor Cruz eyeing a Week 12 return

InjuryCalf injury has sidelined him for all but one practice this season

Tom Coughlin might not know when to expect Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz back. But Cruz himself has an idea. Via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Cruz said “after the bye looks like a promising date” for his return.

The Giants have two more games before their Nov. 22 bye, and if Cruz’s schedule holds, he could potentially return for the Nov. 29 game against Washington. Cruz has been out of all but part of one practice because of a calf strain, after rehabbing last year’s knee injury. Cruz said he started running today, and that his calf had healed and his latest MRI was clean. (Pro Football Talk)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The torn patellar tendon that cost Cruz a big chunk of 2014 hasn’t been discussed by the local media for weeks, so a clean MRI for his calf strain is good news for the few owners that have held on to him this long. It is unlikely he’s going to have much of an impact this season, but it would be good for all parties involved just to get him back on the field in order to see if he can be one of the first athletes in any sport to truly bounce back from a torn patellar tendon.
