Titans remain stubborn on two-headed backfield

Mularkey: “I think we have two starters.”

Titans HC Mike Mularkey likes both (DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry), and plans to continue using them as a one-two punch.

“I think the way it has worked out, it has worked just fine,” Mularkey said on Thursday. “I think we have two starters, and if somebody wants to just line up on the first play of the game to justify, ‘This guy is the starter,’ I don’t know. It is not something we are worried about. They are both really good at what they do.” (TitansOnline.com – Jim Wyatt)

Nerdy Football Analysis: It seems pretty clear at this point Murray isn’t going to be completely healthy this season. It is also completely possible he isn’t going to return to his 2016 form either. Henry hasn’t been nearly as good as some are making him out to be and the line hasn’t blocked nearly as well this season, but he has consistently proven to be the better runner this season. However, until Mularkey’s mind changes, both backs will be little more than low-end RB2s.
