Beat writer floats potential RBBC if/when Le’Veon Bell returns

If Le’Veon Bell indeed returns to the team next Monday, as ESPN reported, he will be able to practice Tuesday and Wednesday of the off week. The Steelers will have off Thursday through Sunday. He would then have a full week of practice before their Oct. 28 game against Cleveland at Heinz Field. Unlike last season when Bell did not report until six days before the opener, they won’t have to throw him right into the thick of things this time, thanks to James Conner. Bell got off to a slow start last season after missing all of the preseason, so why would the Steelers expect him to get off to a faster start after missing all of the preseason plus the first six regular-season games this season? (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Nerdy Football Analysis: This really should have been the expectation once it became clear wasn’t reporting in time for Week 1. Bell has missed too much time for owners to believe he is simply going to fall right back into 25-plus touches, plus Conner has done enough to prove himself at the very least. Owners really need to consider selling Bell to the highest bidder if they haven’t already done so, because the odds of him returning RB1 value in the second half of the season seem minimal at this point.
