Sammy Watkins, Tyrod Taylor, Charles Clay Post-Week 10 Fantasy Advice

The Buffalo Bills remain alive in the AFC playoff hunt following Thursday’s 22-17 win over the New York Jets.

But their playmakers were largely limited in what turned out to be a win via dominant defense, featuring three takeaways and a fumble recovery for a score.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins continued his fickle fantasy nature with just three catches for 14 yards on six targets—four days following his career-high 168-yard showing against the Miami Dolphins.

Though Watkins faced a formidable matchup against one of the league’s top corners in Darrelle Revis, his weak showing is cause for concern.

Depending on fantasy personnel, owners may want to reserve Watkins to a low-WR2, high-flex accommodation. He has big-play potential but an alarming matchup against the New England Patriots next week in Foxborough. He’s averaged 48 yards with one touchdown in three career contests against the division foes.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor did everything he needed to lead the Bills to victory, but that didn’t necessarily show in the fantasy stat sheet.

Playing in his second game back after missing the previous two weeks with a knee injury, Taylor never turned the ball over but was sacked four times, which handicapped him from big plays, as noted by Joe Buscaglia of WKBW:

He remains a reliable QB2 but nothing more. Owners of the injured Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger and others, however, may find Taylor useful to keep them in the playoff hunt before their starters return.

Other than strong outings in Weeks 3 and 4, tight end Charles Clay has remained among the lower echelon of an already-weak position.

He hauled in five catches for 52 yards but failed to reach the end zone, putting another ceiling on his potential. Given the variety of other options likely available, owners should look elsewhere at tight end.
