Surgery planned for injured back Dec. 2
Bad news for Rob Gronkowski: Back injury ended up being worse than originally believed. He will have surgery tomorrow, per source. (Pro Football Talk)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Gronk is reportedly dealing with a ruptured disk and will be sidelined roughly eight weeks, which would put him out through the week before the Super Bowl. It would seem to be good news for Martellus Bennett owners, but he isn’t even close to fully healthy and probably hasn’t been since September. With no other tight end capable of picking up the slack, expect James White, Dion Lewis and probably even Malcolm Mitchell to absorb extra targets down the stretch.
