One-year deal

The Washington Redskins have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran tight end Vernon Davis, a source told ESPN’s John Keim on Thursday. Davis was acquired last November by the Denver Broncos, who gave up a sixth-round pick in April’s draft as well as a sixth-round pick in 2017 in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. He finished last season with 38 receptions for 395 yards between the two teams. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: While Davis has pass-catching ability the Redskins are likely more interested in his blocking ability as Jordan Reed will be featured as a receiving weapon in the offense. Davis’ fantasy value is minimal unless he’s thrust into a starting role due to a Reed injury.
