Bursitis in his knee
Defensive tackle Aaron Donald has a rib injury, wide receiver Cooper Kupp has bursitis in his knee, quarterback John Wolford has a stinger and quarterback Jared Goff is continuing to recover from thumb surgery that he underwent on Dec. 28. Rams coach Sean McVay expressed optimism Sunday evening that Donald and Kupp can return for next Saturday’s contest, but the quarterback situation remains unclear. (ESPN)
Nerdy Football Analysis: McVay isn’t likely to name a starting quarterback anytime soon but the smart money is on Goff getting the start after he stepped in for the injured Wolford in the first quarter of the Rams Wildcard game against the Seahawks. McVay did acknowledge that Goff’s thumb injury did hamper the QBs play. Kupp will likely be limited in practice this week but should suit up.
