Players approve new CBA

Fantasy Football, NFL News
March 15, 2020

Vote totals: 1019-959

NFL players voted to approve a new collective bargaining agreement with the league’s owners, ensuring NFL labor peace through at least 2030 and clearing the way for a 17-game regular season as early as 2021.

The vote to approve was close, at 1019-959. Approval required a majority of the players voting. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The vote passed by a slim margin but only a simple majority was needed. This new deal allows for the league to expand the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14 beginning this season. Another impactful clause is that teams will only be allowed to use one tag (franchise or transition) on potential free agents. Teams with multiple tag candidates (EX: Dallas with Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper) will now have tough decisions to make.
