New England gave up second-round pick for veteran WR

Just spoke with WR Mohamed Sanu on his release from the #Patriots. He told me coach Belichick called him to the facility for a brief chat: “He told me it wasn’t going to work out, which I respect. I personally think it was a money thing. I still want to play where I’m valued.” (Josina Anderson on Twitter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: New England traded a second-round pick for Sanu last October and was set to receive $6.5 million. With N’Keal expected to start opposite Julian Edelman, the cost didn’t fit Sanu’s role as a backup player. The Patriots are lacking weapons on offense and are looking at Damiere Byrd filling the speed role as the No.3 receiver.
