Jonathan Stewart calls rookie “pretty unstoppable” in passing game

Before RB Christian McCaffrey has played his first exhibition game, the rookie continues to draw rave reviews from his teammates. The latest to praise McCaffrey was veteran RB Jonathan Stewart, who made a bold prediction regarding McCaffrey.

“He’s pretty unstoppable as far as coming out of the backfield running routes. I can tell you now there’s not going to be anybody in this league that can cover him 1-on-1. … He’s a special player. Coach (Mike) Shula has definitely found some pretty good ways to put him in positions to win,” Stewart said. (The Charlotte Observer)

Nerdy Football Analysis: If the Panthers get their way, the updated version of “Double Trouble” will be even more dynamic than the first. The challenge for Carolina will be remembering McCaffrey is a special runner as well and making sure he gets at least 10 carries per game in addition to four or five receptions while Stewart is healthy. The sky is the limit for McCaffrey, who could set the league on fire if/when Stewart succumbs to injury again.
