Fire OC Joe Lombardi, two others; promote Jim Bob Cooter

The Detroit Lions are shaking up their offensive staff, firing coordinator Joe Lombardi, line coach Jeremiah Washburn and assistant line coach Terry Heffernan. Washburn declined to comment when reached by the Free Press.

Nerdy Football Analysis: Changes had to be made as the Lions rank 20th in the NFL in total offense, lead the league in turnovers and rank last in rushing offense. Cooter, 31, has a bit of a checkered past, but the Lions thought enough of him to not allow him to interview with the Bears for their offensive coordinator job this offseason.
