The Lions are expected to use a running back by committee approach to their backfield. OC Jim Bob Cooter liked the “trajectory” of rookie Kerryon Johnson in the preseason, and will let Johnson’s role develop and define itself based off the rookie’s play early on in the season. (DetroitLions.com)
Nerdy Football Analysis: LeGarrette Blount will serve as the goal line back and get some early down and short yardage carries, while Theo Riddick is almost exclusively reduced to a passing down role. The rookie is teh back to target as he projects the most upside.
