Josh Gordon seeking extra counseling

“Proactive gesture” aimed at avoiding potential rehab setback

Browns’ WR Josh Gordon did not have any slip ups or failed tests, per sources. His leave is a pro-active, defensive gesture to get extra counseling to try to ensure he does not have any of the setbacks that have marked his past. Those who know him say he has “worked his (butt) off.” (ESPN – Adam Schefter)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Considering his past, it’s easy to understand why people were quick to expect the worst. Gordon is obviously going to come with some risk in 2018 and for the foreseeable future given his history, but he is an all-world talent capable of being a top-five receiver. It may not happen in Cleveland this year, however, as Tyrod Taylor and rookie Baker Mayfield seem like an unlikely duo to throw 600-plus passes. Nevertheless, Gordon is still very much in the WR2 conversation.
