Jamaal Charles, Knile Davis Post-Week 2 Fantasy Advice

The Kansas City Chiefs lost in heartbreaking fashion, 31-24, to the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, but both running backs on the home team found paydirt, much to the delight of fantasy owners.

Here’s a look at how starter Jamaal Charles and backup Knile Davis fared in Week 2:

Jamaal Charles

The focus for the next week will be on Charles’ two fumbles—including the costly turnover that resulted in Denver’s game-winning touchdown with 27 seconds left—but he will continue to operate as a clear-cut RB1 moving forward.

While the turnovers were discouraging, Charles ripped off six yards per carry while displaying terrific open-field burst on a 34-yard touchdown run.

Through two games, Charles has amassed 230 total yards while scoring two touchdowns. And with a long week to rest up for a Green Bay Packers defense that surrendered 166 yards to Matt Forte in Week 1, Charles owners should be salivating to watch him step onto the turf at Lambeau Field.

Knile Davis

Davis found the end zone at the end of an eight-yard scamper in the fourth quarter, but his other two carries combined to go for one yard.

Ultimately, owners can’t trust Davis as anything more than a high-upside handcuff because of his limited number of opportunities. On Thursday night, Charles played 55 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus’ Nathan Jahnke, while Davis lined up for only eight.

Unless Charles gets hurt, Davis is a touchdown-dependent runner who should be employed only by owners in dire straits and tremendously deep leagues.
