Browns complete first minicamp practice
Hue Jackson is determined to keep Baker Mayfield Mania reined in.
After the No. 1 pick’s first rookie minicamp practice on Friday — one in which he showed off his accuracy and nimble feet — Jackson tried to temper the enthusiasm for his prized rookie. Jackson re-iterated what he’s been saying: Taylor is the starter and there’s not an open competition in camp.
“I’m not going to back off of this,” he said. “We can keep writing this narrative, Tyrod Taylor’s the starting quarterback of this football team, and that won’t change.” (Cleveland Plain Dealer)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Alrighty then. These kind of questions will keep popping up when a select a quarterback with the first pick in the draft. For now, fantasy owners can assume Taylor will begin the season under center but that doesn’t guarantee he will keep the job for the duration of the season. However, given the offensive weapons and the hope that Hue will stay away from Todd Haley and let him do his thing, Taylor has QB2 fantasy value in Cleveland.
