Vikings will begin season with new OC for fifth straight season
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak plans to retire. Kubiak, 59, became assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2020, a year after joining the team as assistant head coach and offensive advisor. (Pro Football Talk – Mike Florio)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Plenty of folks had issues with the Vikings in 2020 as they struggled to overcome a young defense in a rebuilding year, but there’s no question Kubiak played a role in Dalvin Cook enjoying a career year and Justin Jefferson breaking Anquan Boldin’s 17-year-old NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in the Super Bowl era. While Cook and Jefferson should be able to thrive in just about any offensive system, it’s fair to expect both to take a hit statistically in 2021.
