Wants progress made on a contract extension

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon isn’t being coy about his intent to hold out until he gets a new deal. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott apparently is, at least for now.

Per a league source, Elliott has privately said that he will hold out of training camp unless he gets a new contract. (Pro Football Talk – Mike Florio)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Yahoo’s Charles Robinson reports Zeke hasn’t made a decision about whether to hold out of camp yet or not, but he definitely wants an extension “in the works.” Elliott has two years left on his rookie deal and is actually making a smart play considering he will probably have nearly 800 more touches on his odometer if he waits until the end of his contract to get paid. He is unlikely to miss any regular-season games, but Tony Pollard and Mike Weber will likely split touches if he does.
