New HC intends to regularly utilize RB out of the slot
(New HC Dan) Campbell just talked about moving D’Andre Swift into the slot and letting him go 1-on-1 vs. linebackers. This is all going very well today. (The Athletic – Chris Burke)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Campbell has yet to hire an offensive coordinator, but it sounds like Swift’s ability as a receiver will be a key part of the attack – as it should be. Swift managed 46 catches in 13 games as a rookie despite playing about a third of the team’s snaps, so it is conceivable he shoots right past 60 in 2021 if the Lions really want to feature his ability to contribute in the passing game. Consider him a near-lock to go off the board in the first two rounds in upcoming drafts.
