Non-exclusive franchise tag

The Dolphins have placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on receiver Jarvis Landry, a move that would pay the receiver about $16 million next season if the sides do not agree on a long-term contract.

The Dolphins will continue to work with Landry on a multiyear deal but also have the right to rescind the tag if they choose.

Nerdy Football Analysis: The non-exclusive tag means Miami could get two first round picks if another team signs him to a long-term contract. The free agent WR market is very thin with Landry being one of the top options. Landry has averaged 105 per season over the last three years but working out of the slot, his yards per catch (10.4) is one of the lowest in the league.
