InjuryInjured shoulder in Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay

An MRI confirmed that New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees did not suffer a serious shoulder injury in the team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in the Superdome, according to an ESPN reporter.

ESPN NFL insider reporter Ed Werder reported Thursday, citing a source, that Brees experienced “pain, weakness in passing shoulder from TB hit. Had MRI.”

Brees’ playing status will be determined by the response to treatment, Werder said. (WDSU New Orleans)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Stay tuned. Earlier Monday, NFL.com was reported that Brees could miss “several games”, but this report makes it sound as if he has a decent shot to play in Week 3 against Carolina. Even before this injury, the Saints’ offense was not been clicking on all cylinders, so Brees probably deserves a spot on fantasy benches for the time being if owners have another decent alternative like Carson Palmer or Andy Dalton. Luke McCown would start if Brees can’t play this week.
