The Miami Dolphins came into this week of practice believing rookie WR DeVante Parker would be available for the regular-season opener against the Washington Redskins. And then this week’s practices happened. Players said Parker looked good on Monday. And better on Wednesday. And then better again on Thursday. And so how good has Parker been?
One player said Parker still isn’t in the same league with Greg Jennings on route running or showing the kind of chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill that Jarvis Landry has. But that he’s a good combination of the two and is getting back some of the explosion he had at rookie minicamp. (Miami Herald)
Nerdy Football Analysis: The buy-low window for Parker appears to be closing fast. His path to a starting job appears to be fairly clear as well since Kenny Stills was limited in the preseason with a calf injury and Jennings is on the downside of career. Expect Jennings to be the starter opposite Jarvis Landry for a few weeks, but Parker’s game-breaking ability should allow him to move past the ex-Packer and Viking before long. Parker has WR2 upside and could eventually move past Landry as Tannehill’s top target.
