Nerdy Football Analysis: Heading into camp, Pettis had immense upside, but he’s got a few dings since then regarding his preparation, and now this. It’s worth noting that Pettis caught 3-of-5 targets for 36 yards in the 49ers’ third preseason game but also muffed a punt — and managed to recover it. Despite the negative stuff, he’s locked in as a starter alongside Marquise Goodwin and offers legitimate upside as a WR4.
