Embattled WR shaping up to be risk-reward WR4
Cam Inman (@CamInman) on Twitter: “#49ers Dante Pettis says he’s dealing with minor groin issue. He’s also not surprised at coach’s criticism, that they’re on same page, that he needs to play with more urgency and “run routes deliberately with more purpose.” (Twitter)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Heading into camp, Pettis had immense upside, but he’s got a few dings since then regarding his preparation, and now this. It’s worth noting that Pettis caught 3-of-5 targets for 36 yards in the 49ers’ third preseason game but also muffed a punt — and managed to recover it. Despite the negative stuff, he’s locked in as a starter alongside Marquise Goodwin and offers legitimate upside as a WR4.
