InjurySuffered hyperextension in Week 7

Danny Amendola hyperextended his knee during a punt return Sunday against the Falcons, according to a source. The issue kept him from practicing (Wednesday), but he returned (Thursday). It’s not an ideal injury, but it’s also not a major ordeal. The 31-year-old could play through it Sunday against the Chargers, but it also wouldn’t be a shock if the Patriots decided to dial back his workload with the bye week on the horizon. The hyperextended knee is truly a day-to-day situation as it really depends on how it responds to rest and treatment. His presence for today’s walk-through was at least an indication that he is in the weekly game plan. (Boston Herald – Jeff Howe)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Given Amendola’s injury history, it wouldn’t be surprising if New England opts to rest him, although if the Chargers’ have a weak link among their cornerbacks, it may be rookie slot CB Desmond King. Amendola makes sense to use as a low-end WR3 in PPR leagues this week if he goes, but owners will obviously need to make sure he is cleared to play sometime this weekend.
