This depth chart is unofficial. It isn’t even composed by coaches. The Lions did name Kerryon Johnson their starting running back heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Chicago Bears. Adrian Peterson, signed this week, slots in behind him at No. 2. Ty Johnson is the third-string back, while D’Andre Swift — yes, that D’Andre Swift — and Jamal Agnew both on the fourth team. Nerdy Football Analysis: Team depth charts aren’t necessarily the most trustworty documents but it’s just a reminder that the rookie isn’t set to have a big workload right out of the gate. Swift will work his way into the mix as the season progresses but it feels like Johnson and Peterson will handle the bulk of work to start the season.
