Daily Fantasy Football Week 15: DraftKings Optimal Lineup Advice, Matchup Guide

The NFL season is winding down, but daily fantasy football is still cranking out winners heading into Week 15. DraftKings owners still have three weeks before the playoffs begin to cash in on the regular season.

This week’s slate offers 14 games on Sunday with plenty of great matchups to pick apart for some of the league’s top players. Following a wild Week 14 that will come to a close on Monday Night Football, let’s take a look at players to target at each position on Sunday.

Quarterback

Can Cam Newton be stopped? Honestly, that’s more of a rhetorical question this season. The Carolina Panthers quarterback has been absolutely torching opposing defenses all year and will continue that in Week 15.

Over his last two games, Newton has passed for eight touchdowns with no interceptions while averaging 298 passing yards. Facing a New York Giants defense that ranks 30th against opposing quarterbacks on DraftKings, look for Newton to slice up the G-Men for another 30-plus-point afternoon.

Owners who want to spend less for a QB should look at Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford or Brock Osweiler.

For Brees, it’s all about location, location, location. Brees has averaged 27.7 fantasy points per game this season at home with 17 TDs to just five interceptions. While we might not advise starting him on a constant basis, Brees is a great start on Sunday against a mediocre Detroit Lions defense.

Stafford is in a similar situation on the other side with a matchup against the Saints. It’s no secret that New Orleans’ secondary is terrible. With the Saints ranking 32nd against quarterbacks, Stafford should light it up for DFS owners.

Last but not least, Osweiler is coming off his worst start but still looks like a great add at his price. Facing off with a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has been caught up in multiple shootouts lately, look for Osweiler to get back on track against the Steelers’ 26th-ranked defense against QBs.

Running Back

After a rough game against the Seattle Seahawks, Adrian Peterson did everything he could to help the Minnesota Vikings get back in the win column. His team still lost, but Peterson looked strong again with his ninth touchdown of the season and 86 total yards.

Peterson now faces a Chicago Bears defense he ran roughshod over earlier this season with 109 total yards. With six touchdowns in six games since that performance, expect Peterson to score and tally up a ton of yards against the porous Bears front seven.

While it’s purely a speculative add before he plays on Monday, Lamar Miller has the look of a low-end RB1 for Week 15. The Miami Dolphins’ lead back will face a maligned San Diego Chargers team that ranks 28th against opposing backs. Following the firing of offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, the Dolphins will continue to lean on Miller, which is a clear weakness for the Chargers.

David Johnson and Denard Robinson are two players worth looking at thanks to injuries. Johnson looked strong in Week 14 and should carve up the Philadelphia Eagles defense. Meanwhile, Robinson is next in line after T.J. Yeldon suffered a knee injury on Sunday. Coming off an 87-yard, one TD performance, Shoelace is certainly worth a flex spot.

Wide Receiver

DeAndre Hopkins exploded for an average of 94 yards per game with 10 touchdowns in his first 13 starts. He’s been limited in two of his last three games, but it’s time to trust Nuk against the Indianapolis Colts.

For starters, the Colts rank 29th in pass defense with 276 yards allowed per game. With Hopkins accruing double-digit targets 10 times this season, there’s a solid chance he’ll make up for a good chunk of the yardage.

Need another reason? How about his 11-catch, 169-yard performance earlier this year against the Colts. Oh, that’s 30.9 points on DraftKings with the double bonus. Yeah, Nuk is worth the salary hit.

While Hopkins has been killing it all year, Sammy Watkins and Doug Baldwin have come on strong lately. Watkins is averaging 116 yards per game with four touchdowns over his last three performances. Meanwhile, Baldwin is averaging 107 yards with a staggering eight touchdowns over that same span.

Both Watkins and Baldwin also face favorable matchups against the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns, respectively. With their reliable production since Thanksgiving, there’s no reason not to slot one or both of these players in your lineups on Sunday.

Finally, we come to John Brown as a wild card, if you want to call him that. Brown is slotted at $4,900 on Sunday, but has over 14 DraftKings points in his last four games. Whether it’s through consistent targets or just a home-run play down the field, Brown is good for another massive game against the Eagles’ atrocious defense.
