RB undergoing MRI on oblique; WR day-to-day with shoulder issue
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gives injury updates on RB Christian McCaffrey (oblique/ribs) and WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder):
CMC is currently having an MRI.
Deebo will be day-to-day. (NFL Network – Clayton Holloway)
Nerdy Football Analysis: It appears as though Samuel should be expected to play against Minnesota next Monday night, but the same may not be true for CMC. McCaffrey tried to play through the injury before leaving the game for good in the fourth quarter. Oblique injuries are notoriously slow to heal, so the 49ers could exercise caution and sit him for at least a week in a game they should win. Assuming that ends up being the case, it sounds as though Shanahan still prefers Elijah Mitchell over Jordan Mason as the preferred top back if CMC is sidelined.
