RB continues to “push” rehab on Achilles tendinitis
RB Christian McCaffrey also will remain on injured reserve and not be available for the team’s game on Thursday.
McCaffrey has not played this season due to Achilles tendinitis in both legs.
“(McCaffrey will) continue his rehab,” Shanahan said. “Every day you try to push the rehab more and more.”

Nerdy Football Analysis: McCaffrey has not played all season, so he wasn’t going to make his season debut on a short week. He also has not practiced since early August, so a return in Week 7 seems unlikely as well. With that said, there seems to be cautious optimism that he will return no later than Week 10. It is difficult to assess whether McCaffrey is a good trade target at this point and it seems extremely unlikely the 49ers will ask him to carry a heavy workload anytime before December. As such, Jordan Mason’s value should remain high all season.
