Broken left arm
Any hope of a quicker-than-expected Carson Palmer return has been dashed. The Cardinals’ quarterback was placed on injured reserve Thursday with his broken arm, a move that will keep him out of action for a minimum of eight weeks. The earliest Palmer can return to the field is the Christmas Eve matchup against the Giants, which is the second-to-last game of the regular season. (AZCardinals.com)
Nerdy Football Analysis: It locks Drew Stanton (or maybe Blaine Gabbert at some point down the road if Stanton does not perform well) into the starting spot until Week 16 at the earliest and pretty much crushes the value of every Arizona pass-catcher. Larry Fitzgerald is probably viewed as a WR3 at best now, while John Brown is drop-worthy in redraft formats. Stanton will be hard to use as a QB2 in even the most favorable matchups, including Week 9 at San Francisco.
