14 seasons in the NFL

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer announced his retirement Tuesday in an open letter after 14 seasons with three teams. Palmer, 38, who was drafted first overall in 2003, said he felt the time was right to walk away from football. (ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Palmer broke his arm in Week 7 and never played again. The retirement of head coach Bruce Arians likely made Palmer’s decision an easy one. Playing for the Bengals, Raiders and Cardinals Palmer compiled a 62.5 completion percentage and ranks 12th in passing yards (46,247). With Arians and Palmer out, you have to wonder if Larry Fitzgerald will follow suit and decided to call it a career.
