Injury“I’d love to keep Andre long term, yet he’s got to stay healthy”

While lauding Andre Ellington’s talent, Keim didn’t mince words about Ellington’s tenuous future.

“Andre’s a dynamic player, there’s no doubt about that,” Keim said on Wednesday. “We love his skill set, but it’s no secret the guy has had durability problems. As an organization, you have expectations and if a guy doesn’t fulfill those expectations, you may have to move on. “Hopefully, Andre’s not in a situation where we have to move on. I’d love to keep Andre long term, yet at the same time, he’s got to stay healthy.”

Nerdy Football Analysis: The Cardinals GM is spot on. Ellington has missed 10 games over the last two seasons with various injuries and has fallen down the depth chart as a result. He’s entering the final year of his contract but comes at a cheap price ($1.6 million) so he’s unlikely to be released. However, another mixed season plagued by injuries will likely lead to Ellington’s departure from Arizona.
