Cardinals make change at offensive coordinator

Byron Leftwich in for Mike McCoy

On Friday, the Cardinals announced that Byron Leftwich would be taking the place of Mike McCoy as offensive coordinator.

It’s upgrade from his most recent job title: quarterbacks coach.Leftwich himself spent 10 years as a quarterback in the NFL, which caught the Cardinals’ eye.

He joined the Cardinals staff as an intern in 2016, when Bruce Arians was still head coach. Then, he was hired full-time in January of 2017. (Arizona Republic)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The Cardinals have struggled on offense this season with little creativity in the play-calling department, routinely running David Johnson into the line on first down and failing to use his talents as a pass catcher. This move was needed and can hopefully give a spark to a stagnant offense.
