Nerdy Football Analysis: About the only thing working in Newton’s favor is that Carolina will have one more day than usual to gain clearance as the Panthers host the Bucs on Monday night. Unfortunately, that doesn’t do much for his owners, who aren’t going to have any realistic options outside of backup Derek Anderson to turn to if he can’t go. As such, owners should prepare to be without Newton this week.
