Move will be official on March 15th
The #Bucs plan to release RB Leonard Fournette when the new league year begins March 15, per sources.
GM Jason Licht mentioned recently that he felt Fournette was still a three-down back in this league. “Lombardi Lenny” is still only 28 and has plenty in the tank. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Tampa Bay struggled to run the ball in 2023 and will be be undergoing a rebuild the next couple seasons now that Tom Brady has retired. Fournette averaged just 3.5 yards per carry last season while splitting carries with Rachaad White who only averaged 3.7 ypc. The Bucs are way over the salary cap and will need to make other moves to get under the cap by March 15th.
