Manziel will be the backup
Johnny Manziel isn’t out of the doghouse just yet.
Browns coach Mike Pettine on Wednesday morning named Austin Davis the starter over Manziel for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Nerdy Football Analysis: Josh McCown has been placed on IR with a broken collarbone. Manziel is being punished for reportedly lying to coaches about his off-field activities during the bye week. Davis went 7-for-10 for 77 yards, and a 42-yard TD in relief of McCown last week. He’s a QB2 against the Bengals.
