InjuryDealing with Grade 2 tear of his right plantar fascia

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Thursday he has every intention of playing on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If that statement left any wiggle room, he was more forceful in a follow-up response.

“I’m going to play,” he said. “I’m going to play.”

Nerdy Football Analysis: Brees said he was just “playing it safe” by not practicing Thursday. Despite his optimism, owners need to have a backup plan in place because Brees should be considered no more than 50-50 to go in a meaningless game (for the Saints anyway) against the Jaguars. If he does play, he’ll be a high-risk, high-reward QB1 in a game that could easily turn into a shootout.
