Brandon LaFell's, Tyler Boyd's Updated Fantasy Outlook After A.J. Green's Injury

The Cincinnati Bengals are facing time without their star wide receiver A.J. Green after he left Sunday’s Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills with a hamstring injury. The team announced he would not return.

While it’s a big blow for the Bengals, fantasy owners who have Green in their lineups are now without a big-point threat:

Those numbers had Green ranked as the No. 4 fantasy receiver in football.

Without Green, though, quarterback Andy Dalton will turn to Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd to pick up the slack, which is something to watch within your fantasy leagues.

Brandon LaFell

Cincinnati’s No. 2 receiver has already shown a good rapport with Dalton during his first season with the Bengals.

As a mid-range option inside of Green, LaFell caught 29 of his 46 targets through Week 10 as Dalton’s second-most sought-after target.

He’s also been just as reliable a scoring option as Green with the same number of touchdowns (four) in 53 fewer targets.

If Green is sidelined for an extended period of time, Dalton could look LaFell’s way even more moving forward, which could make him a must-start in your league.

Tyler Boyd

Rookie Tyler Boyd has become a tertiary wide receiving option out of the slot within the Bengals offense, as the likes of Green, LaFell, tight end Tyler Eifert and even running back Giovani Bernard have eclipsed him.

It has showed in his fantasy output, as he’s recorded more than three fantasy points just twice.

But after Green’s departure Sunday, Boyd reeled in four receptions during the first half, which was more than he had in six games already this season.

Because he’s owned in just 5.1 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, Boyd could be someone to keep an eye on if Green remains sidelined.

If you’re looking for a boost on the waiver wire, Boyd could be a decent pickup for the flex spot so long as he is the team’s No. 2 receiver moving forward.
