Will have surgery on elbow
Ben Roethlisberger underwent an MRI on his right elbow that revealed he will need season-ending surgery this week. He will be placed on IR. Mason Rudolph now becomes the Steelers’ starting QB. Having traded Josh Dobbs to Jacksonville last week, the Steelers now are likely to sign QB Devlin Hodges off their practice squad to back up Rudolph. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Nerdy Football Analysis: Week 2 was rough for quarterbacks and that includes Roethlisberger who will miss the remainder of the season. This is a downgrade for the entire Steelers offense including JuJu Smith-Schuster. Mason Rudolph went 12-19 for 112 yards and 2 TDs in relief on Sunday.
