Adam Trautman ready to break out?

Jared Cook likely to be cap casualty

It’s always difficult to forecast a Trey Hendrickson-like breakout season, but the opportunity is going to be there for Adam Trautman to enjoy a big sophomore campaign. Assuming Jared Cook does not return, Trautman will be the projected starting tight end. He was productive in limited playing time as a rookie, catching 15 of the 16 targeted passes, nine of them for first downs. He also showed big-play potential with receptions of 29 and 41 yards. The future is bright for the Dayton product. (The Athletic – Jeff Duncan)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The caveat to predicting a huge second season from Trautman is the likely retirement of Drew Brees. Taysom Hill appeared to be more of a one-read (usually Michael Thomas) quarterback in his time as the starter, while impending free agent Jameis Winston is still very much an unknown in Sean Payton’s system (assuming he returns to New Orleans). Trautman’s talent is not in question, however. Fantasy owners should keep his name in the back of their mind should the Saints move on from Cook.
