Rookie RB’s role likely to mirror Reggie Bush’s
Lions OC Joe Lombardi on Ameer Abdullah: He’s going to get a chance to run the ball, and he’s going to get a chance to be used extensively in the passing game. (Kyle Meinke on Twitter)
Nerdy Football Analysis: In case it wasn’t somewhat obvious before, the Lions intend on using Abdullah much like they did Reggie Bush when he was able to stay healthy in 2013. That role led to a RB9 finish for Bush in PPR formats and a RB10 finish in standard leagues. Detroit may not give him more than 15 offensive touches initially as it uses him as a returner, but he’s highly likely to lead the backfield in fantasy points before the season is over. Joique Bell is expected to get the start in Week 1.
