49ers use franchise tag on K Robbie Gould

Non-exclusive tag

Kicker Robbie Gould, one of the first free agents signed by the San Francisco 49ers when coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch took over in 2017, will be around for at least one more season after he received the team’s franchise tag on Tuesday.
He is the first player to receive the franchise designation this offseason.

Nerdy Football Analysis: Gould is 37 years old but doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. He’s kicked 30+ field goals three out of the last four years finishing as the K8 and K3 the last two seasons. Gould received the non-exclusive tag meaning he can seek other offers but the 49ers have the option to match.
