Seattle lands DL Sheldon Richardson

The Seattle Seahawks’ terrifying defense just hit the upgrade button.

The Seahawks acquired defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson from the New York Jets in exchange for receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported, per sources informed of the pact. The teams also swapped seventh-round selections in the deal. (NFL.com)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The Jets bolstered(?) their amazingly thin receiving corps with Kearse who should have a good chance at steady playing time. That being said, his fantasy value remains minimal given the sorry state of the Jets offense. Tyler Lockett Paul Richardson and Kasen Williams move up the depth chart in Seattle behind Doug Baldwin.

Vikings RB on the rise

RB Dalvin Cook: Cook broke arm tackles on his way to picking up 33 yards on three consecutive carries against the Seahawks, showing off his combination of power and elusiveness once he finds a seam. Cook’s production came behind a patchwork offensive line that expects to return two of its starters – Alex Boone and Riley Reiff – for the next preseason game on Aug. 27. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

Nerdy Football Analysis: Cook’s averaged draft position has been on the rise over the last week and half after seeing extensive action with the first team offense through two pre-season games. With an ADP of 3.09 (RB16) you’ll need to consider him in Round 3 if you’re drafting this weekend.

Paul Richardson emerging as No. 3 over Jermaine Kearse

ESPN is reporting that Paul Richardson appears to be the No. 3 behind Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett (leg), and that this could be the best group of pass-catching weapons that Russell Wilson has ever had.
(ESPN)

Nerdy Football Analysis: The Seahawks’ quarterback has showcased the diverse array of weapons at his disposal, including the speed of Lockett and Richardson and mismatches with guys like Graham and C.J. Prosise. Baldwin presents a problem for defenses operating out of the slot. This looks to be another good bet for fantasy production, and Wilson is a safe bet for solid numbers with plenty of upside.
